908 Devices Quietly Raises $17.5 Million in Latest Funding Round

908 Devices, which makes products ranging from rugged, handheld chemical detection tools to compact, tiny footprint analyzers and fast separation devices, has quietly raised another $17.5 million, in a funding round captured Friday. The company had previously raised $49.3 million, with the last funding about 2 years ago.

908 Devices' MX908TM is a multi-mission tool utilized by elite responders conducting chemical, explosive, priority drug and HazMat operations around the world. The ZipChip® is a front-end separation platform for a mass spectrometer that lets customers measure multiple critical quality attributes (CQAs) in a single assay.

Mass spectrometry is a well-established analytical technique for measuring the mass of charged molecules – in that sense it is an extraordinary scale at the molecular level, used in virtually every chemical analysis laboratory for limitless applications from safety & security, to food science, biotechnology, clinical diagnostics and controlling industrial processes.
