Accenture Federal Services LLC (AFS), based in Arlington, Virginia, has secured a major contract with the U.S. Air Force valued at $1.6 billion. The contract was awarded on a firm-fixed-price, time-and-material task order basis under the General Services Administration (GSA) multiple award schedule and will focus on providing enterprise-scale cloud services and cloud software management.

The contract aims to enhance the Air Force’s cloud infrastructure and software capabilities. In turn, this will help position the military branch for continued growth in digital operations and improved operational efficiency. The work will take place at designated contractor facilities and is expected to conclude by December 2, 2029.

Contract Details and Value

The task order awarded to AFS is for enterprise-scale Cloud Service Provider (CSP) reseller and software management services. It will support the Air Force's growing need for scalable cloud infrastructure, focusing on operational efficiencies and advanced management of cloud resources across its enterprise.

The contract's total value is capped at $1,598,720,367, with $2 million in fiscal year 2024 operations and maintenance funds obligated at the time of the award.

Who is Accenture Federal Services LLC (AFS)?

AFS is a subsidiary of Accenture, a global consulting and professional services leader. This offshoot focuses on delivering cutting-edge technology and business solutions for the U.S. federal government. In particular, the company specializes in providing digital, cloud, and artificial intelligence solutions to various government agencies, helping them modernize and improve mission-critical operations.

Who is the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC)?

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), based at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusettes, is responsible for Air Force weapon systems' total life cycle management. This involves procuring, deploying, and maintaining various technological solutions to support the Air Force’s mission. As such, they are the primary contracting agency for this task force.

Key Aspects of the Contract

This contract is part of a broader initiative by the U.S. Department of Defense to modernize its IT infrastructure. A major component of this is the procurement of cloud technologies to improve flexibility, scalability, and operational readiness:

  • Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Reseller: AFS will act as a reseller for enterprise-scale cloud services, enabling the Air Force to procure and manage cloud infrastructure more efficiently. This will allow the Air Force to leverage advanced cloud capabilities to enhance its digital operations.

  • Enterprise-Scale Cloud Software Management: The contract also includes cloud software management services. These services will optimise cloud-based applications, improve security, and ensure the seamless operation of software systems critical to Air Force missions.

A Strategic Relationship

The AFS has secured similar contracts in recent years, such as AFS’s ongoing work with the Air Force on digital transformation and cloud initiatives. This latest deal is set to further strengthen the company’s strategic relationship with the military as well the importance of scalable cloud solutions in military operations.
