New Delhi: Wysa, an AI-powered mental health app, has raised $ 5.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Boston-based digital health investors W Health Ventures. Existing investors Google Assistant, Pi Ventures and Kae Capital also participated in the round, along with a clutch of family-owned firms.

The company, which has now raised a total of $9 million, will use the fresh funding to expand its offerings for business-to-business clients and hire more staff to cater to potential incoming demand, co-founder Ramakant Vempati said. The company claims to have 3.5 million sign-ups so far on its app. Wysa currently has 60 employees across offices in Boston, Bengaluru and London. Wysa is an app that offers mental health support through its eponymous free AI chatbot, as well as self-help resources on the app and paid access to therapists.
