The Shanghai-headquartered company, which is also a subsidiary of Huada Semiconductor Co., Ltd, designs and develops intelligent integrated circuit (IC) chips, which are widely used across a slew of fields such as auto electronics, rail transit, power management, and industrial control, among others. In 2019, GTA made headlines when it acquired Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation Limited (ASMC), an IC chip manufacturer, that was initially incorporated as a Sino-foreign joint venture called Shanghai Philips Semiconductor in 1988.
