Indonesian edtech platform Cakap has secured $10 million in a Series B round co-led by Centauri Fund and Heritas Capital to expand its offerings, it announced on Thursday.

The startup claims to have catered to 1.5 million students to date and says it has been profitable for the last two years.“To support our mission in elevating people’s lives, we are consistently learning our students’ unique behaviour and enhancing our solution by developing our engine around AI and machine learning to provide localised and personalised learning in accelerating students’ learning progress,” Cakap co-founder and CEO Tomy Yunus said.In its announcement on Thursday, the company noted that the backing of MDI Ventures, an arm of state-owned telecom company Telkom Indonesia, will help it accelerate its nationwide expansion.Cakap secured $3 million in a Series A+ round led by Singapore-based Heritas Capital in December 2020. Cakap provides online language learning courses using live instruction and multimedia learning materials.
