In a significant development for the electric vehicle (EV) charging market in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Eleport, an Estonian-based public EV charging network operator, has announced its acquisition of TurboVolt, a Charge Point Operator headquartered in Austria. This acquisition is critical to Eleport’s strategy to expand its reach across the CEE region, particularly in Croatia and Slovenia.
Founded in Estonia, Eleport has grown to become the largest EV charging operator in the Baltics and the fourth largest in Poland. The company operates over 800 EV chargers and is backed by Gren Group, a notable supporter of its mission.
Eleport is committed to deploying 10,000 DC-powered fast charging points across CEE by 2030, all powered by 100% renewable energy sources certified by the European Union.
Established in 2022, TurboVolt has rapidly positioned itself as a key player in the EV charging market. It focuses on installing high-powered EV charging hubs in prime retail locations across Austria and CEE. Entirely powered by renewable energy, the company's hubs are also equipped with advanced fast chargers, provide multiple sockets, and offer a variety of payment options.
The takeover includes plans to launch 17 high-powered EV charging hubs across Croatia and Slovenia, specifically at Supernova and SES shopping centers. Each hub will feature up to 12 high-speed chargers capable of delivering up to 300 kW of power per socket.
The aim is to significantly enhance the EV charging experience in these regions by making the process smoother, faster, and more convenient. The first hubs in Croatia are set to open in Zadar and Zagreb, with Slovenia's initial hub launching in Ljubljana.
TurboVolt's CEO, Anthony Hinde, remarked on the alignment of visions between the two companies: “Joining forces with Eleport aligns perfectly with our vision of expanding access to sustainable transportation solutions. Together, we will provide market-leading solutions for high-speed charging in CEE markets which urgently need solutions.”
According to Jakub Miller, CEO of Eleport, “This acquisition is one other pivotal step in Eleport’s long-term plan of changing into the main EV charging community in CEE. TurboVolt’s technique and objectives align completely with ours, and I’m excited to work with their staff to speed up the deployment of a dependable, fast-charging infrastructure that meets our prospects’ expectations.”
Eleport's acquisition of TurboVolt marks a significant step in the company's ambitious plan to innovate and dominate the EV charging market in Central and Eastern Europe. By combining their resources and expertise, Eleport and TurboVolt are well-positioned to accelerate the deployment of fast, reliable, and sustainable charging infrastructure.
The result is not only a robust partnership but also providing greater accessibility and convenience for EV drivers across the region.
