Description
Slate Hill Constructors, in partnership with others, won a $251 million bid in July to build a section of Interstate 81, but the contract was later revoked due to issues with meeting the state's goal of minority subcontractor hiring. The state comptroller’s office rejected the state’s award to another company and ordered the state Department of Transportation to start over with bids for the same contract, allowing Slate Hill Constructors to submit a new bid.
