Japanese automakers Nissan and Toyota have showcased their driverless taxis at the China International Import Expo, where they announced partnerships with Chinese companies WeRide and Pony.ai. Nissan has collaborated with WeRide to establish Nissan Mobility Services Co, while Toyota, Pony.ai, and GAC Toyota have formed a joint venture, with an investment of more than 1 billion yuan (US $139.6 million). The collaboration aims to accelerate efforts in the development of autonomous driving technology and promote the future of driverless cabs.
