Banco BPM receives official confirmation for Anima acquisition from Italian government

new yorkBanco BPM has received official confirmation that the Italian government won't block its planned acquisition of asset manager Anima through the use of its “golden power” mechanism. This brings the acquisition deal closer to completion, following the clearance in December by the Italian antitrust authority. However, challenges remain, particularly in obtaining authorization from the European Central Bank regarding the treatment in terms of capital requirements applicable to Anima following the acquisition.
