T-Mobile has announced its plan to acquire almost all of U.S. Cellular in a $4.4 billion deal. Following the merger, approximately 4,100 U.S. Cellular employees will face layoffs, though most will be offered employment by T-Mobile. Customers of U.S. Cellular will have options to maintain their current plans or switch to T-Mobile plans without costs. The deal is expected to close by mid-2025.
